About Us

South Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society is a registered charity (SC037284), governed by a constitution and overseen by an Elected Committee, chosen at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Society's mission is to promote a deeper understanding of Islam among its members and to offer facilities for prayers and other Islamic practices.

In pursuit of this, the Society provides opportunities for its members to participate in:
- Daily congregational prayers (Jamaat)
- The Juma prayer on Fridays
- The two annual Eid prayers
- Taraweeh prayers and Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan

The Society is also committed to fostering positive relationships with other faith communities by organizing interfaith events. These gatherings create a space for dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration, furthering harmony between diverse religious groups.

The South Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society takes great pride in serving as a religious and community hub for Muslims in the region, ensuring that their spiritual, cultural, and social needs are met.

Leadership
The spiritual guidance of the Society is provided by Imam Shakeel Ahmad, who leads prayers and supports the community in fulfilling their religious duties. Under his leadership, the Society continues to thrive and meet the needs of its members.

Our Vision
The Society envisions a community where Islamic teachings inspire compassion, unity, and respect for all, while building bridges with other faiths to foster a more inclusive and understanding society.
